The Devil’s Third and Last Commandment

I’m late to this today. I wish I could tell you that I had more important things to do, but I have a lot of time to think between punishing the wicked and being awesome. I’ve thought deeply about this Devil’s third commandment, and that indulgence led to a simple realisation.

I wanted to make the third and necessarily last commandment about being good to each other – something like the golden rule – which is the fairest way to look at how we treat the world. However, telling people they need to be good to others often falls short of the intended mark, and not because people don’t know what “good” means, but the relative nature of some words renders this one subjective to individual interpretation.

“Being good” could imply anything from giving someone the shirt of your back to simply not interfering with their life, and at the worst of times, not hurting them too badly.

I wanted to optimise the implication of my message to humans. I want them to understand the need to optimise their behaviour for the sake of a better society.

I resorted to a reiteration of Confucius’ Golden Rule. I shared it on my favourite place to recruit souls – Twitter.

The Devil's Third Commandment

Third and necessarily the last commandment: pay attention to the world around you. If you don’t want to be treated the way you treat others, it’s time to reconsider your behaviour.

A proud Devil
